Educational Qualification

Physical Standards (DSP only)

For the 22 DSP posts, height-chest, vision and medical standards apply per Appendix-Ka of the notification. Vision: 6/6 corrected (good eye), 6/12 corrected (bad eye), no retinal degenerative changes, myopia not exceeding -2.5 D. Hearing test, dental check and chest/heart/lungs examination are mandatory.

What is the Salary for BPSC 72nd CCE 2026?

Pay scales follow the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix as adopted by the Government of Bihar.

  • Pay Matrix Level-9: Rs. 53,100 – 1,67,800 — DSP, BAS, State Tax AC, Revenue Service, CDPO, Bihar Finance Service, Sub-Div Conservation Officer
  • Pay Matrix Level-7: Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400 — City Executive Officer, RDO, Revenue Officer, Block Panchayati Raj Officer, etc.
  • Pay Matrix Level-6: Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400 — Block Minority Welfare Officer

With Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other state-government perks, the in-hand salary for a Level-9 entry post is approximately Rs. 75,000 – Rs. 90,000 per month in the first year, and grows steadily through the service.

What is the Selection Process for BPSC 72nd CCE 2026?

Selection is a three-stage process — Preliminary, Mains, and Personality Test. Final merit is calculated out of 1,020 marks.

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination

  • 150 objective MCQs, 150 marks, 2 hours
  • Negative marking: 1/3 mark for every wrong answer (option E mandatory if not attempting)
  • Qualifying marks: UR 40%, BC 36.5%, EBC 34%, SC/ST/Women/PwBD 32%
  • Marks are NOT counted in final merit — Prelims is only a screening test
  • 10x of total vacancies are called for Mains

Stage 2: Mains (Written) Examination

For 72nd CCE Table I:

  • General Hindi — 100 marks (qualifying only, NOT counted in merit)
  • General Studies Paper-I — 300 marks
  • General Studies Paper-II — 300 marks
  • Essay — 300 marks

For CDPO / FAO / Sub-Divisional Conservation Officer, the Essay paper is replaced by a post-specific Optional Subject paper (300 marks). Mains is conducted in Hindi, English or Urdu (one only — no mixing). 2.5x of vacancies are called for the interview.

Stage 3: Personal Interview

  • 120 marks
  • Held at BPSC office in Patna
  • Mandatory attendance — absentees are excluded from final merit

Final Merit

Total = Mains (900) + Interview (120) = 1,020 marks. In case of a tie, higher Mains marks decide the rank.
