Eligibility Criteria for Punjab Police Constable 2026
Educational Qualification
- General Candidates: Passed 10+2 (12th) or equivalent from a recognised Education Board / University
- Ex-Servicemen: Minimum Matriculation (10th Pass)
- Punjabi Language: Must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as compulsory or elective subject (or equivalent Punjabi language exam as per Punjab Government) — this is mandatory for all candidates
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 28 years (as on 01 January 2026)
- SC / BC (Punjab): 5 years relaxation (up to 33 years)
- Ex-Servicemen (Punjab): As per rules — service period deducted from actual age, then max limit relaxed by 3 years

- Male Height: 5 feet 7 inches (170.2 cm) minimum

What is the Salary for Punjab Police Constable 2026?
Selected candidates will get ₹19,900 per month as starting basic pay under the Punjab Government pay structure. This pay scale is valid for the first three years from the date of joining in service.
- Starting Pay: ₹19,900 per month
- Plus: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances as per Punjab Government rules
- 7th Pay Commission: Applicable
With DA and other allowances, the approximate in-hand salary comes to around ₹25,000 – ₹30,000 per month initially, which increases with service and promotions.
After completing 3 years, constables become eligible for regular pay progression. Career growth includes promotions to Head Constable, ASI, SI, and higher ranks.

Important: Multiple shifts will be conducted and marks will be normalized using the Mean Standard Deviation method.
Stage-II: Physical Screening Test (PST) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
Both PST and PMT are qualifying in nature. Candidates shortlisted from CBT merit will be called.

- Male Running: 1,600 meters in 6 min 30 sec (one chance)
- Female Running: 800 meters in 4 min 30 sec (one chance)
- Male Long Jump: 3.80 meters (3 chances)
- Female Long Jump: 3.00 meters (3 chances)
- Male High Jump: 1.10 meters (3 chances)
- Female High Jump: 0.95 meters (3 chances)
Candidates must qualify ALL events — failing any one event means disqualification. Random drug testing may also be conducted.
Stage-III: Document Scrutiny
Final verification of all original certificates and documents. Candidates must carry: Matric certificate, 12th certificate, Punjabi language certificate, category certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate (for women under General category), and NOC (for government employees).
