Eligibility Criteria for NLC Apprentice 2026

Candidates must strictly fulfill the following eligibility norms.

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate Apprentice:
    • A Degree in Engineering or Technology (Full time) from a Statutory University/Institution in relevant discipline.
    • Graduate examination of Professional bodies (Full time) recognized as equivalent.
  • Technician (Diploma) Apprentice:
    • A Diploma in Engineering or Technology (Full time) granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education in relevant discipline.

Passing Year

  • Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.

Regional Eligibility

  • Candidates MUST be from the following states/UTs:
    • Tamil Nadu
    • Andhra Pradesh
    • Telangana
    • Karnataka
    • Kerala
    • Puducherry (UT)

Other Conditions

  • Candidates should NOT have undergone or be currently undergoing Apprenticeship Training elsewhere.
  • Experience of 1 year or more is not eligible.

Salary (Stipend) Structure

Selected apprentices will receive a consolidated monthly stipend for one year.

  • Graduate Apprentice: ₹15,028/- per month
  • Technician Apprentice: ₹12,524/- per month
  • Note: The stipend includes the Govt. share paid via DBT.

Selection Process Explained

The selection is purely merit-based.

  • Method: Selection will be based on the percentage of marks scored by the candidates in their qualifying Degree or Diploma.
  • Merit List:
    • CGPA/Grades will be converted to percentage as per University norms or by multiplying by a factor of 10.
    • In case of a tie, the senior candidate (based on Date of Birth) will be preferred.
  • Certificate Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification at Neyveli.
