Eligibility Criteria — DRDO GTRE Apprenticeship 2026

Educational Qualification

For Graduate Engineering Apprentices, you must hold a Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a statutory university. For Diploma Apprentices, a Diploma in Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education is required. For ITI Trade Apprentices, you need an ITI pass certificate with valid NCVT certification in the respective trade. For Graduate General Apprentices, any Bachelor’s degree (B.Com / B.Sc / B.A / BCA / BBA) from a statutory university is acceptable.

Critical: All candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in 2022 or later as a regular candidate. Candidates with higher qualification than the prescribed essential qualification, or those who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under any organisation, are NOT eligible.

Age Limit

Minimum age is 18 years as on 6 June 2026. Maximum age limit follows the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961 as amended by the Government of India. Only Indian Nationals are eligible. Reservations apply for SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and PWD candidates as per the Act — candidates must produce competent-authority certificates at the time of verification.

What is the Stipend and Salary for DRDO GTRE Apprenticeship 2026?

The stipend is paid monthly per Government of India norms under NATS (for Graduate / Diploma / Graduate General) and NAPS (for ITI Trade Apprentices). Current indicative rates are:

• Graduate Apprentices (Engineering & General): approximately Rs 9,000 per month
• Diploma (Technician) Apprentices: approximately Rs 8,000 per month
• ITI Trade Apprentices: approximately Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,050 per month (varies by trade)

Effective stipend range across all 150 posts: Rs 7,000 – Rs 9,000 per month, as per latest Govt. of India NATS / NAPS notified rates.

Selected apprentices must sign a one-year apprenticeship contract under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Please remember — GTRE does not offer guaranteed employment after the training. What is the Selection Process for DRDO GTRE Apprenticeship 2026?

GTRE has chosen a flexible walk-in format. Depending on the number of candidates and vacancies in each discipline, the establishment will combine the following stages:

1. Shortlisting on academic merit (mark sheets verified at walk-in).
2. Written Test, if conducted on the day of walk-in.
3. Personal Interview, if conducted.
4. Document Verification — all originals and self-attested copies.
5. Police Verification — covering past one year residence and permanent address.
6. Medical Fitness Certificate from an authorised Medical Officer of a Government Hospital.

Although the final stage is a walk-in interview at GTRE, every candidate must pre-register on the correct portal first — otherwise the apprenticeship contract cannot be executed.
